Target group: Trainers.
For participants from: Erasmus+: Youth in Action Programme countries.
Group size: 24 participants.
The learning process is generally the core of the educational activity. This therefore requires not only a special attention, but also to create a suitable environment that supports participants not to limit themselves to the experimentation part and to fully engage with their own conscious learning process. To strengthen the learning dimension of the educational activities that the Erasmus+: Youth in Action and the European Solidarity Corps programmes offer, it is important to analyse and contrast the different outlines, situations and possible scenarios where the learning process occur. A learning process that has been carefully considered but that does not include caring for its environment and what it offers, has an impact on the way participants will engage with their learning experience. It plays a role with regard to motivation to learn, the trust to engage in the process, the sense of well-being, of belonging, of having space for emotions, and in terms of personal and group safety. This is why it is important to have a multidimensional in order to fully support the learning potential.
The main purpose of this TSW “Exploring learning environments in training – creating frames that favour the learning process” is to explore how to create engaging, inspiring and trustful learning environments in a training context.
• to exchange practices and approaches to create learning environments in a training context;
• to explore what are the factors that support creating a trustful, inspiring and engaging learning environment (e.g. safety, self-awareness, trust, motivation…);
• to provide opportunities for further training activities to achieve good practice related with safe learning environment in their activities;
• to link the experience during the TSW to trainers’ practices:
• to [better] understand the ETS Competence Model for Trainers Working at International Level and its connection with the theme.
Target group and team of trainers
TSWs are targeting trainers who already have a long-term experience with training in the field of youth. We do not wish to set a strict minimum number of years of experience or a number of training courses but rather focus on the need for applicants to have the capacity to reflect on their practice as trainers, which generally require several years of regular practice. The training activity is for trainers who wish to develop their competence with regard to particular areas/skills and transfer the learning to their youth work practice.
